Fort Collins in the summer is just plain hot! Everybody in Northern Colorado is well aware of the summer heat. It is especially important to take care of your grass during these hot summer months or you could end up replacing your entire lawn, which is a huge expense. Watering regularly is essential to lawn maintenance but, unfortunately, many people in Colorado are not properly watering their lawns! Some people water their lawns everyday at the same time, which results in a lawn becoming very dependent on daily watering. At first glance this may not seem like a big deal, however, lawns that are watered too frequently will not develop a deep root system and are prone to dying or drying out in even a short drought.
At Backes Landscaping we recommend you water your lawn 1-2 times per week. For these waterings we also recommend you give your lawn a nice, deep soaking. The water should penetrate to a depth of at least 4-5 inches to ensure that the roots of your lawn will properly develop and penetrate deep into the earth. There is really only one way to know how deep your water is penetrating. You literally have to water for a set period of time and then take a shovel or spade and dig up a small area of your lawn to check how deep the water has gone. Be sure and do this carefully and definitely avoid sprinkler lines and heads or underground utilities. This should be an easy process. Simply stab a small section of your lawn with your shovel and lift up the area in question to see the water depth penetration, you will be able to see the water line and depth. This area can then be easily replaced with no permanent damage being caused.
Once you determine the correct amount of time to water, you just need to commit to 1-2 times a week to remember to properly water your lawn. Many people find this to be a very tedious chore, or they simply don’t have the time. The perfect solution is to install a sprinkler system. Here at Backes Landscaping we are very experienced with irrigation systems of all types. We have installed commercial irrigation systems and residential irrigation systems. We can recommend and explain to you the best type of sprinkler system for your yard or business.
Sprinkler systems range greatly in price and application. There are different timers to consider as well as different types of sprinkler heads for different areas of your yard. Your sprinkler system needs to be broken into different zones to maintain the appropriate water pressure for each specific area. We will analyze your landscape to recommend the appropriate sprinkler system applications and zone divisions. We can also handle all of your shrubbery, bushes, and tree watering applications. These areas are unique and require a bubbler as opposed to a traditional sprinkler head.
Installing a sprinkler system comes with some BIG advantages. You will never have to remember or worry about the chore of watering your lawn. Plus, you won’t have to find a yard sitter or somebody to water your lawn when you go out of town. Our sprinkler systems come with fully automated timers so you can water properly when necessary. We will make recommendations for the best times to water, and we will also program your system for you. This automatic system will help to maintain your lawn for many years. Your lawn will be thicker and greener because of regular watering. This will also result in less weeds and less crab grass.
Instead of dealing with the recurring hassle and chore of watering your lawn, let Backes Landscaping install a worry free sprinkler system. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful, healthy green lawn in the scorching summer months in Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, and all of Northern Colorado!
